Youthline Wellington counsellors give back to the community through providing phone, text, email, and webchat counselling support through our national helpline services. We train, support and develop our volunteers to ensure they are confident and equipped to take on this challenging and rewarding role.
Applications for our winter volunteer intake have now closed. Becoming a Youthline counsellor involves completing our personal development process, formal training, and being mentored by experienced Youthline counsellors to become confident on the helpline.
Our counsellors are supported by group supervision, ongoing education and opportunities to get involved in a multitude of areas within our organisation.
Our phone counsellors are trained in working with callers and texters in a strengths based way that encourages and enables them to feel empowered in their own decisions and choose their own way of life.
